During years 7, 8 and 9, all pupils follow the Secondary National Numeracy Strategy. This involves a series of “units” which cover a wide range of topics on number, algebra, handling data, shape and space.
Each student is tested on a regular basis, so they can see if they are progressing well. Students are expected to make two “sub-divisions” progress each year. Students also complete “Maths Investigations”, often in small groups, which allow them to put their learning into more practical situations.
Homework is set on a weekly basis and is expected to be completed.
Towards the end of year 9, students will sit their “SATS” examinations. Special “booster” revision sessions will be provided, together with specialist revision materials.
